Blue Bloods season 8 episode 4 spoilers: Frank’s first-hand investigation

Blue Bloods season 8

When Blue Bloods season 8 episode 4 airs on Friday, October 20, the show is looking to look very much like the show of old. Linda Reagan’s death may still be a fundamental part of the series, but at the same time it doesn’t appear like it’s going to be the main focus. We’re still heartbroken that she’s gone, but life will move forward for some of these people — and the work of the NYPD will effectively force it to move forward in some cases. We’re going to be seeing some of these characters put through some tough times yet again, and this episode should shine a light on some of the show’s main recurring characters more than we’ve seen as of late.

Want a little more insight into what’s coming? Take a look at the synopsis below.

“Out of the Blue” – Danny and Baez work the case of a detective who was gunned down prior to testifying against a career criminal. Also, Frank personally investigates when Garrett is attacked by a SWAT team outside his home, and Erin brings in a confidential informant against Anthony’s wishes, on BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Oct. 20 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

This isn’t the first time that Erin and Anthony have been at odds about something, so we’re not altogether concerned that the two are going to have so much conflict here that they won’t be able to move past it eventually. There are still a number of different reasons to be worried, though, with one of the big ones being that sooner or later the two could hit a breaking point. Just because they’ve been able to move past some problems in the past doesn’t always mean that they will be able to do so.

For Frank, the most exciting thing about this storyline is simply the notion of him being able to be back out in the saddle again working to solve a case. We do like it when you can push this character more outside of him just being the skilled commissioner that he is, and this could be an opportunity to see him in that space.

Unfortunately this episode is offering no Jamie/Eddie scoop in advance, but we wouldn’t take this as some sort of sign that the show isn’t looking to give Will Estes and Vanessa Ray material in the upcoming episodes. There have been many episodes to feature them where it wasn’t hyped up in advance, so don’t think that this is some sort of repeat necessarily of the end of this past season.
