Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 3 video: Is Dr. Bailey getting fired?
What’s one of the biggest ones? It’s mostly comes down to a returning Harper Avery (it’s been a while) making it clear that she could be losing her job in the wake of her pleas for funding. She makes an interesting appeal to him, one where she claims that the foundation not helping to fund the hospital in the midst of its repair efforts is bad for their own business and bad for PR. It’s true that the hospital is a force for good most of the time, but it’s probably also true that it remains a force for chaos. The fire that happened in the season finale is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of everything that’s happened there, and there was also the hot mess known as the Eliza Minnick crisis that took place at the end of this past season.
Our reaction to this sneak peek was anger and/or frustration, but one of the bigger things to remember about this preview is pretty simple: It’s just one scene from the episode. Just because it sounds as though Bailey could lose her job on the basis of this doesn’t quite mean that she actually will. It’s certainly possible that this sneak peek just cuts off before she gets a chance to offer up some sort of possible rebuttal.
If nothing else, we look at this as yet another challenge for Bailey — we absolutely don’t think that Chandra Wilson’s character necessarily needs another challenge after everything that she’s been through, but it’s certainly something that could and probably should be considered. The more we get a chance to see her go through hard times the more that she’ll rise to overcome them. This is just a big part of being at the Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital these days.
Ultimately, we’re excited to see what happens one way or another in this episode — it should be exciting to see what happens, and if nothing else we’re excited to see Harper Avery back in action. He’s an integral part of the show whose name is often mentioned, but it’s really all that often we actually see him on the show itself. Anytime we do is a real treat and interesting to behold.
