Chicago PD season 5 – Wil Travail casting news; a connection to Upton

Wil Travail casting

Anyone out there interested in some Chicago PD season 5 – Wil Travail casting news? If so, prepare to dive in and enjoy.

According to a report from TVLine, Travail (whose recent credits including the likes of Jessica Jones and Arrow) is going to play the important role of Sergeant McGrady on the NBC series. This is a man who is coming over from the Narcotics unit in order to lend a hand, but he also just so happens to share some sort of past connection to Tracy Spiridakos and her character of Hailey Upton. We’re going to learn more about her history through his appearance on the show, which is pretty critical given that we’re going to need to make up for a whole lot of lost time with her since she’s relatively new to the series. Meanwhile, with Jay Halstead and others we have virtually four whole seasons worth of history already.

Is their past connection romantic? You really can’t rule anything out, but we’ve already thrown ourselves into the camp of the Upton – Atwater #Upwater ‘ship for no real reason other than that it’d be different and fun. Also, Atwater needs a little bit romance in his life after not having it featured prominently.

The biggest things that we know about Hailey Upton so far are as follows: She was a part of the Robbery Homicide Unit before she ended up working with Intelligence, and to go along with that she credits Platt for helping her go down the path towards becoming a cop at an early age. We hope that she has some more scenes with Amy Morton as a result of that, given that Trudy is one of our favorite people in the cast and we want to continue to see her featured pretty prominently in the show. We’ll be covering her at CarterMatt however long she’s around.

Want some other Chicago PD news beyond the Wil Travail casting?

There is still a good bit of stuff going on in the Windy City World, starting with the fact that next week is going to be a big Burgess episode! If you head over here you can get a little more in the way of news all about that. Meanwhile, the premiere episode on Wednesday was notable in that it was the first time Sophia Bush publicly addressed her exit from the show — she didn’t discuss why she opted to depart, but she wished her former cast members well and so far, the ratings show that it will continue to fare well in the ratings even without her. We did admittedly have a concern about that for some time.
