Chicago PD season 5 episode 2 preview: Burgess takes a stand

Chicago PD season 5 episode 2

Are you ready for Chicago PD season 5 episode 2, even so soon after the premiere aired? We know that we are! We have a feeling that you’re going to be even more excited if you’re a fan of Marina Squierciati’s character of Kim Burgess. It makes sense for new showrunner Rick Eid to give her a big story right out of the gate. She was gone from the final episodes of season 4, so this is an opportunity to get a good update on her life and what’s going on with her. Not only that, but this also should offer us up a chance to learn a little more regarding her history with the Police Department and a man she helped to get out on the streets in the first place.

If you look below, you can get a little more information right now regarding what lies ahead.

Chicago PD season 4 episode 2 synopsis – “After a van explodes during a Chicago street festival, a Muslim patrol officer Frank Toma (guest star Ben Youcef) goes missing and evidence quickly piles up pointing to his involvement. Burgess (Marina Squerciati) – who helped train Toma – is desperate to prove his innocence, even if that means going against her superiors. Also starring Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Elias Koteas, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton and Tracy Spiridakos. Guest starring Yaya DaCosta, Salar Ardebili and Mykelti Williamson.”

Of course the Burgess storyline is going to be strong, but to go along with that it should prove interesting seeing how some other characters react to what we see with her and Toma. For one, what’s the state of things with her and Ruzek at this point? We’d love as much Ruzek content as possible.

Meanwhile, we’re glad to be getting another Chicago Med cameo courtesy of Yaya DaCosta, even though we’re very well aware of the fact that we’re not going to be getting a whole lot of Chicago Med story news during this episode. Did you really think that NBC was going to resolve the cliffhanger with Dr. Charles on another show? That’s just not their speed in the slightest!

About the promo

The video following tonight’s episode only raised the stakes further when it comes to how serious the threat was on the city — we’re talking about the possibility of terrorism, which brings all sorts of possible prejudices into the mix given Frank Toma’s religion. It’s no surprise that Burgess would want to stand up for him, but will she have the tools necessary to combat the odds being stacked against him? That’s one of the things that could end up defining this hour.
