Timeless season 2 premiere date still unknown, despite rumors
Responding to a user on Twitter regarding a rumor that the show will return within that aforementioned time frame, executive producer Shawn Ryan noted that, unfortunately, there is no specified premiere window for the show just yet. We do know that when it does come back, it won’t be at any point in the reasonably-near future: The series has yet to start filming, and the writers room has only been open for the past few weeks.
If we had to kick off our Timeless season 2 premiere date speculation now, we’d say that the likely window for the show is either March/April or in the summer, when it could come on the air and either follow an existing property or lead off a night of its own. We do foresee there being some possible openings on NBC Thursday night to try something out with the show, or maybe something could open up Monday or Wednesday depending on what the plans are with some of that programming. (The fate of midseason entry Midnight, Texas is not entirely clear as of this writing.)
Is it really a terrible thing to have to wait for summer to see Timeless back on the air? In this case, we don’t actually think so at all given that this show could air without the pressure of significant competition elsewhere; not only that, but NBC probably has the best summer lineup out of any of the major networks out there. There are some networks that we would be a little bit worried about in the event that Timeless was stuck on the summer schedule. However, NBC is not one of them. We do think that this show is going to have every opportunity possible to succeed, and we’re excited to see what happens in the event does end up there.
Above all else, we’re excited to see what the story for this show is going to hold! We’re very much intrigued to learn a thing or two more about that given that so much has been up in the air, really ever since we learned that Lucy’s mother is secretly a part of Rittenhouse. That was the sort of cliffhanger that, in the event Timeless was canceled, we at CarterMatt would’ve been freaking out over for a rather long time into the future.
