The Blacklist season 5 episode 2 preview: Tom’s search for suitcase answers

What is in the suitcase? Following Wednesday night’s premiere episode The Blacklist season 5 episode 2 is going to continue along the story established tonight. The remains in this suitcase have been proclaimed to be essential in furthering along most of the main plotlines with the show. Without know who or what is in there, Reddington gets to continue running his businesses in any way that he wants to. This could devastate him; as a matter of fact, there is a good chance it will given everything that Mr. Kaplan said prior to her death on the show.

This upcoming episode of the NBC series is entitled “Greyson Blaise,” and the title alone suggests that there is going to continue to be a big Blacklister component once more. The synopsis below offers up a little more information.

The Blacklist season 5 episode 2 synopsis – “Liz (Megan Boone) and the Task Force join Red (James Spader) on an international adventure in pursuit of a billionaire (guest star Owain Yeoman) who moonlights as a high end art thief. Meanwhile, Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) chases a lead and Tom (Ryan Eggold) seeks outside help in identifying the remains in the suitcase.”

If you didn’t realize it Yeoman has a great history appearing on shows that we cover. For example, he played the part of Rigsby on The Mentalist for many years, and then following that he was also a part of Turn: Washington Spies for years as the infamous traitor Benedict Arnold. On paper, this seems like a very different sort of character than one the he has played in the past.

Meanwhile, we do continue to wonder whether or not Tom will face a significant moral dilemma when it comes to the bones. Let’s consider things in this sense: The character may eventually find some news on Reddington that forever damages the relationship that he has with his daughter Liz; yet, Tom may also realize that his wife and her father are forging the best connection that they’ve ever had. While he and Reddington have a rather decorated history, at the same time there is another question that you have to wonder: Will he be willing to stay silent about a secret for the sake of stabilizing Reddington’s relationship with Liz? Can he buy into a notion that he is a changed man and won’t hurt Liz? there is certainly reason for some skepticism.

The new The Blacklist season 5 episode 2 promo below makes it very clear that Reddington is going to be in trouble courtesy of Tom, but the worst part of it is that he doesn’t quite realize that Tom is in possession of it. Basically, he’s going to struggle to find something without knowing its precise location.
