Once Upon a Time season 7: New Colin O’Donoghue – Lana Parrilla photos!
Want to get some additional Once Upon a Time season 7 photos leading up to the show’s premiere? Well, we’ve got a brand-new batch from ABC that feature Colin O’Donoghue, Lana Parrilla, and many other notables names all in costume.
One of the reasons why this is so notable at this particular time is just because sharing promotional photos for the season is not something that we’ve seen the network show all that much of a willingness to do in the past. For years we were stuck using official cast photos from the third season of the show, which is one of the last times that the production had them done. That was especially unfortunate given that the season 2 photos, which featured our heroes / villains dressed as fairy-tale characters living in Storybrooke, were some of the most awesome ones conceived in recent memory.
Well, we are pleased to say that these new season 7 photos are very much paying an homage to some of those images from the past, while also offering up more of a sense of what some of these characters are up to right now. The one of Parrilla above is a personal favorite, though the lighting in this one and others is a little soft — probably an attempt to mirror a worn-down cover of an old fairy-tale book. You can see the new Henry (Andrew J. West) fittingly surrounded by books, his daughter Lucy (Alison Fernandez) getting a love for stories early in life, and the new version of Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) looking as menacing as always.
There are still some other questions that we have upon looking at these images. For example, what in the world is going on with the new Alice (Rose Reynolds)? Given that we haven’t seen the show yet it’s hard to necessarily understand the new interpretation of the character. Meanwhile, the mysterious Lady Tremaine (Gabrielle Anwar) looks evil, but is this a very different sort of evil than what the team has encountered in the past?
To us, the best new image of the group is clearly Drizella (Adelaide Kane), who looks both incredibly over-the-top and vain — this is precisely what you want out of one of Cinderella’s stepsisters, and we have a feeling that she will be this and then some when we get a chance to see her on the show this year. It’s also a pretty harsh departure from who she played on Reign in Mary, Queen of Scots.
