This Is Us season 2 episode 2 spoilers: Jack faces his demons

This Is Us season 2 episode 2 is airing in one week’s time, and you better be prepared for even more emotion and character moments. This is a show designed with the sole purpose of making you feel things, and this episode will likely be no exception. One of the main focuses here is going to be seeing how characters try to move forward — whether it not it works, however, remains to be seen.

Below, the NBC synopsis officers up a few more details when it comes to what lies ahead on the show from here.

This Is Us season 2 episode 2 synopsis – “The entire Pearson family visits Kevin on set in Los Angeles for a “Manny” taping. Jack confronts his demons in the wake of his fight with Rebecca.”

One thing that is starting to be clear about NBC’s promotional strategy for This Is Us is that they don’t have an inherent need to give a lot of information away in advance. The ratings for the first season were through the roof, and that is without even mentioning the critical acclaim and the recent Emmy victory for Sterling K. Brown. There’s no reason to think that the show’s ratings momentum won’t continue in the second season, and keeping secrets helps by and large in order to get people engaged and excited about what’s coming up.

For Jack especially, this is going to be a story about trying to fix things — it’s not going to be easy, especially when you stop for a moment and consider where he’s at right now. He is in the lowest point of his entire life, struggling and questioning if he and Rebecca have a future. For much of the show he’s been idealized as this perfect husband and father; this is the breaking down of the barriers and sharing some of the flaws, whether it be the temper or the history with drinking that has caused him so much pain in the past.

The one thing that we can tease here regarding Kevin is the same thing that we’ve noted a few times in the past: Fame comes with a cost. Hopefully, he’s prepared for that.
