America’s Got Talent finale: Did Darci Lynne, Mandy Harvey, Light Balance win season 12?

On tonight’s America’s Got Talent finale, Darci Lynne, Mandy Harvey, and Light Balance are all squaring off in order to determine the answer to one question: Who is the winner? Who is the rightful person to walk away from this season with the title of champion?

Going into the episode, we were pretty confident that the three aforementioned names were going to be the ones remaining at the end based on both past voting history and also the quality of the work that we’ve seen from start to finish on the show.

Yet, there was still not much of a surprise here at the end of the night, given that the act who emerged as the champion was Darci Lynne! The singer/ventriloquist proved to be on top, and probably got a significant amount of votes in the process. The bigger surprise in the end was learning that Angelica Hale managed to get second despite being the first person to perform on the night. Meanwhile, Light Balance was third, Mandy Harvey was fourth, and Sara & Hero was fifth. This was a pretty great season for the ladies, wasn’t it? All of these acts were deserving in their own way, but we’re happy that Darci won. While we don’t think her performance last night was necessarily the best, she has a huge opportunity now to be one of the biggest stars to ever come out of the show.

If there are any other surprise from the finale, it’s that Preacher Lawson, who was at one point a personal favorite to make it to third place at most. This is a testament to the fact that giving the right performance at the right time still matters. Meanwhile, you can also argue that it is a surprise that Evie Clair, despite having the emotional story and making highlights all over the country, didn’t end up getting more votes at the end of the day.

In the end, though, this is another winner for the books, and we do think that Darci is one worth remembering. She still has a ways to go before superstardom, but with this win she is right on her way.
