Has the Supernatural season 13 Big Bad been officially cast?

Supernatural season 13 Big BadIs the Supernatural season 13 Big Bad coming your way sooner rather than later? Based on some of the current casting intel that is out there, it absolutely seems possible.

What is a little bit more shocking here is learning just who the new Big Bad could be: The Archangel Michael, even though he’s been gone from the main show for some time. This version exists within a separate plane, one that is not completely in line with what’s going on with the version of the Supernatural world with Sam and Dean. In this world (enabled by what happened with Lucifer’s son in the finale), the Winchesters fail to exist. Meanwhile, Michael is going to be running around and creating all sorts of chaos here.

In speaking on this subject, and a war between Heaven and Hell that is coming in the season ahead, executive producer Andrew Dabb had the following to say to Entertainment Weekly:

“The Michael of apocalypse world is the victor … He’s a very different character than the one we met even in season 5. He’s Genghis Khan. He’s been through the wars. He’s conquered the world.”

Christian Keyes is going to be playing this iteration of Michael on the show, and there’s something interesting about a character like this given that he has technically already achieved much of what some other Supernatural Big Bads set out to do. They often come in with these huge aspirations of being able to completely crush the Winchesters or much of the surrounding worlds, but this guy has done that.

So how could he interact with Sam and Dean on the show? While there are still some mysteries there with that, there’s one thing we’re pretty darn confident in at the moment: They’ll be on a collision course at some point. You don’t bring a character like this onto the show unless you have some expectations that they are going to be able to come on board and be a significant force to be reckoned with.

Remember, Supernatural season 13 premieres on The CW this fall, and in between this, Lucifer’s son, and the Scooby-Doo crossover episode, we at CarterMatt have countless stuff to look forward to. We also figure that there are still some additional announcements that are going to be made in the weeks to come.

What do you think? Should the Supernatural season 13 Big Bad be Michael?
