Ray Donovan season 5 episode 6 spoilers: Ray and Abby’s big decisions

Ray Donovan season 5 episode 6

When Ray Donovan season 5 episode 6 airs on Showtime next week, you’ll continue to see a wide array of important events play out. Some of these are going to be coming in the past, whereas there are a few others that will be a major part of the present.

Before we dive into anything else, let’s start off here with the synopsis. It sets the table for much of what we’re going to want to discuss more at length within the body of this piece.

Ray Donovan season 5 episode 6 synopsis – “Abby makes a shocking decision that reverberates throughout the family. Ray runs interference for Natalie, while Sam shows him the lengths she’ll go to protect her empire. In his attempt to free Bunchy, Mickey finds himself caught in the middle of someone else’s war. Terry visits with Bridget and discovers a truth that shakes him to his core.”

For Ray in the present, it makes sense for him to continue to bury himself in both his operation with Sam Winslow and with Natalie James. they are a necessary part of his business, but to him it stems beyond that. It’s also a big part of his distraction. He may have had some time to deal with Abby’s sickness and eventually her death (it was not sudden), but this is still a woman who was with him for a huge percentage of his life. Moving on from this is not going to prove to be an easy thing to do.

As for what is transpiring in the past with Abby, it is important to see the events as they happen … though we also understand why David Hollander and the writers decided to make the end result clear from the jump. This is not a story of whether or not Abby is going to die; instead, it’s a story of her legacy, and of understanding more of the love story that he and Ray had. It may have been unorthodox, but it was uniquely their own and not something that anyone else could easily understand. In order to figure out how Ray is operating both now and in a potential season 6 (the show hasn’t been officially renewed yet), you do need to better understand the past. It’s critical to getting the full picture.

Is Ray thinking a little bit differently in terms of Natalie James? It’s a question that Sam Winslow asks, but it’s also one that he doesn’t have much of a firm answer to in the preview. This was about as interesting and action-packed of a brief preview as you really could’ve hoped for.
