MasterChef season 8 episode 16 preview: The next challenges; current favorites
With there only being seven home-cooks left, we imagine that there will be some additional conflict that comes from people having to work together, while also trying to stand out individually. There’s a reason why those team challenges are so intense! With there only being a handful of episodes left, everything is on the line for these home cooks if they want to win. We saw in the previous preview (the one that aired after this past episode) that there is a pasta-making challenge coming up. There also looks to be a team challenge that is set out in the field, which we’ve seen a reasonable amount of over the course of the season.
So, out of the remaining seven home cooks, who is the favorite? Nobody is really running away with this, but you do have to look towards Cate as someone who’s really been strong almost the entire season. While she may have struggled once as a Team Captain, she’s been dominant in team challenges and worked really well in some of the individual ones. We’re also personally putting Dino very high on that list. He’s incredibly good at what he does, and he’d be the perfect ambassador for the show if he wins given you’re talking about someone who is so distinct and original. Yachecia is basically the same way. We’ve said for some time that we consider her the favorite, and she’d be the best story given that she’s been in a couple of positions where she was one mistake away from going home. She’s had a lot of high highs, but also a few scary moments like in the face-off against Newton.
Are we ruling out Jason, Gabriel, Eboni, or Jeff? Not necessarily, but they probably have the harder road because they haven’t been as dominant and we also don’t know their stories anywhere near as much. Jeff is the one treading the most water entering these two episodes, given that he’s had a number of near-eliminations now and the general consensus in the game seems to be that other home cooks don’t work with him well in the team challenges.
Of course, we do want to know who you consider to be the favorite to go all the way this season!
