Want to catch up before Call the Midwife season 7? Another opportunity

Call the Midwife season 7

Call the Midwife season 7 is going to be premiering in 2018, and if you are in America, there’s a way to catch up for it completely.

As the show’s official Twitter account points out, the latest batch of episodes (season 6) is going to come to Netflix on September 18 following it airing on PBS in the spring. What that means effectively is that you can watch, if you’ve got plenty of time on your hands, the entire eight-episode run in one sitting. There is a lot of good stuff to get into there, whether it be change in Poplar or change for some of the individual characters.

We don’t want to spoil too much of anything in this article, but we will tell you that for Shelagh and Dr. Turner, it may be one of the most important seasons of the show yet. It looks at childbirth (of course), but it also looks at grief, at cultural differences, and the struggles that some will go through in order to determine precisely what is right.

If you haven’t seen the show, one of the biggest reasons to get into it now is embracing the heartfelt storylines and the earnest nature of some of the characters. Even though it’s a show being made today, it often feels as though it’s in a different time. The characters are genuine about their jobs and the work that they do, and they show a tremendous amount of care for every single person that comes into their doors. There are hardships, but there are also victories. many of its storylines have bittersweet endings because many things in life do.

Given that Call the Midwife remains enormous in Britain — to the point that it’s already been renewed for many years — we’re still somewhat surprised that the show has not become more popular in America. Maybe childbirth is not appealing subject matter to some US viewers, but the show’s more about people than it is the jobs of the main characters. It really just hasn’t received attention in the right venues, and it doesn’t have that obvious visual flair of a Downton Abbey. It’s a little bit grittier and its characters deal a little bit less in ideas. Nonetheless, it’s a wonderful example of a character drama that tells great stories almost regardless of who is on screen. We’ve seen it rotate cast members here and there, but it still continues to be just as successful as it’s always been.

Call the Midwife season 7 is currently filming, and it will be preceded by a Christmas Special — just in case you wanted something more to look forward to, that is it.
