Shameless season 8 premiere date revealed; Frank Gallagher scoop

Shameless season 8 premiere date

Interested in learning the Shameless season 8 premiere date? Well, look no further! The fine folks at Showtime have now confirmed when it’s back.

The series, starring William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum, is going to be back on Sunday, November 5 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. That is a little bit later than it returned last season, and it certainly suggests that the show is going to air across the holiday break. The only other possibility is that the show takes a hiatus for a couple of weeks in late December and then starts back up in the new year.

One thing that absolutely is interesting is that there is no news regarding whether or not season 8 is going to be the final season of the show. Typically, Showtime dramas don’t have a tendency to last any longer than this. Look at Homeland seemingly set to end it after season 8, or Dexter and Weeds choosing that this is the right point to end their series. One of the biggest things that Shameless has going for it, meanwhile, is that this is the sort of story that could go on forever, though eventually, you do want to see life get a little better for some of the Gallaghers. We look at characters like Ian and Fiona, and think that they are capable of getting better. As for Frank, that dude is too far gone and it’s hard to see things any differently.

Nonetheless, Macy teases to Entertainment Weekly that you are going to get a chance to see his character continue to try and redeem himself”

“A new Frank means a new beginning, a fresh start. Today starts now … Like when you get a new bar of soap. It’s big and perfectly formed and even though you know it’s going down the drain, it impresses you. Or the end of the toilet paper roll. But maybe that’s not the same thing at all.”

This is a very apt description for Frank — he may think that things are new and fresh, but eventually it’s all downhill until he starts fresh for the billionth time. Is he still compelling television? Sure, but over time we’ve developed more of a feeling that Shameless is more the story of Fiona and a less less the story of Frank. She is the person who is effectively moving forward, and it’s harder to be confident that Frank ever will, even with the tragedy that occurred near the end of season 7.
