Teen Wolf season 6 spoilers: Tyler Posey on bringing it back to the roots

Tyler Posey

It’s crazy to think that the final ten episodes of Teen Wolf are almost here, but they are! Not only that, but they may feel like the first ten episodes in some ways.

Over the course of the MTV series, we’ve had a chance to see some of these characters battle demon wolves, Dread Doctors, Ghost Riders, were-jaguars, and many other threats. Yet, in the early days it was more about werewolves and people hunting them, and this seems to be more of where the story is heading now as we get into the end of the series, as well. Things may start out a little bit freakier and supernatural — we’ve heard tales already of some awful spider-creature during the earlier episodes of the show — but in the end, we’re going to be see things boil back down to the survival of a group of supernatural beings amidst a world that is not all that ready to welcome or accept them.

In speaking on this subject a little bit further to E! News, series star Tyler Posey passed along the following message:

“We’re bringing it back to like, the simple days of Teen Wolf where it’s just werewolves and hunters … We kind of do something that we’ve never done before, and then we go back to our roots when it was just hunters and werewolves.”

It does feel right to make things a little more personal as we work our way to near the end of the show, and do everything possible to avoid some of the villains that require a significant amount of mythology in order to set things up. In doing things this way, you’re giving yourself an opportunity to tell a story that is a little bit more focused on some of the people that you do have, and a little less on some characters you’re not going to care about … and nor do you really have time to care about them when you consider just how long you’ve got left in the story. New villains are exciting, but tying up some old villains that are already out there/giving variations on people you’ve already come to know is a great way to tie together some loose ends.

Oh, and on the returning hero front, you’ve certainly got plenty of them coming back thanks to Colton Haynes, Dylan O’Brien, and Charlie Carver. Hopefully, there will be a few other surprises present here and there.
