Once Upon a Time season 7 spoilers: Jared Gilmore returning; Cinderella hints

Jared Gilmore

What’s with the new Cinderella on Once Upon a Time season 7? We’re going to have some further news on that subject soon, but first, let’s discuss the news that Jared Gilmore is officially coming back in the role of young Henry — at least for one episode.

Speaking while at the D23 Expo this weekend, executive producer Adam Horowitz noted (per Entertainment Weekly) that we will see Henry in the first episode as he makes it his goal to seek out places where there is no happy ending written. That’s a pretty ambitious goal for the young author, but within these places we could see different versions of established characters. This is why we have the nea version of Cinderella played by Dania Ramirez (see above); Edward Kitsis also had the following to say about these “different” books that Henry will seek out:

“What’s interesting to us is that these books tell the stories, a lot of them about these classic characters, and as you know for the first six seasons we did twists and turns on them … New books could have different versions of some stories and ways of looking at them that maybe we’ve seen before, maybe some new characters as well.”

There are some elements of this idea that are exciting, but there are also some other elements of this that could be confusing to people who are new viewers to the show and are just starting to get a sense of the overall story.

Kitsis and Horowitz also teased that there are still hopes to bring back Jennifer Morrison and some original cast members back, and there are many hopes for some more Storybrooke scenes at the same time. They confirmed that Hyperion Heights (which is the title for the first episode) is a neighborhood in Seattle that will serve as the primary setting for the latest chapter of the story. Horowitz added that the name of the city is an intentional nod to Walt Disney:

“It is obviously an homage to Disney history. We’re always really conscious of that and we love to find ways to put that in.”

One more tease for Hook fans

The show will give you a good sense in the early going as to why Colin O’Donoghue’s character is away from his wife Emma Swan, and also whether the two have any plans in order to welcome a child. It doesn’t seem like there is any interest in Hook having a wandering eye; the intention for the new season doesn’t seem to be to cause any more problems for Hook and Emma; there are plenty of other interesting stories that the show could tell when it comes to these characters, after all.
