Does Once Upon a Time season 7 have a new Cinderella?
Earlier today, a new photo surfaced on ABC’s press site that absolutely has us and many other people surprised: A sighting of a new Cinderella! This is one that is played by Dania Ramirez, who is one of the new series regulars on the show, and she is pictured alongside the older version of Henry in Andrew J. West. It’s more than understandable to be wondering what in the world is actually going on here, especially since the show already had a Cinderella played by Jessy Schram. How we would we have a new one unless it was some descendant or maybe a character from a parallel universe?
Yet, you cannot deny the fact that Ramirez’s character is wearing that dress, and she is captioned as Cinderella in the photo. Whatever is happening here is going to be interesting in establishing more of what the show is now, and also what co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are trying to execute with it. They want us to be introduced to this new world and to care about these characters — while still having much of the same feel that the original show did.
On some level, we suppose that it does make a little bit of sense for the series to reuse characters in some capacity, given that there are only so many prominent people from the fairy-tale world that can be used. Not only that, but they really didn’t do all that much with Cinderella in the first place. She’s someone who had a role on the first season of the show, but has only really appeared here or there ever since. If there was ever a fairy-tale character to remake / remix in some way, it would be this one.
Beyond tonight’s panel, maybe there will be some further answers as we get closer to the show’s premiere this fall on ABC. It has a new timeslot Friday nights at 8:00 p.m. Eastern; hopefully, there are enough viewers out there interested in getting a little bit of TV magic for the show to work in that timeslot.
