Big Brother 19 live feed spoilers: Christmas’ surgery update (day 20, evening)
Today, Christmas had another doctor’s appointment and it seems as though she’ll be leaving soon to undergo surgery on the foot injury that she suffered this past week. She’s had to leave here and there for appointments, and she will have the procedure followed soon by the recovery process — which she seemingly can do by and large in the house.
Based on what she said today to the other houseguests, she expects to be back Thursday provided that everything goes well. From there, she will continue to recover, and likely will be unable to do many of the more physical challenges.
In the midst of her announcement today, we had a minor tiff between Christmas and Jessica as each one of them aired out their dirty laundry to each other. Jessica thought that Christmas was being mean to her, while Christmas was hurt that Jessica didn’t come and check up on her after she came back to the house after the injury happened. That signaled to her that she really didn’t care.
Is it fair that Christmas gets to do this?
We know that there are people out there who are wondering this, and we also know that there are probably some conspiracies that this has to do somewhat with the fact that Christmas is one of the most famous people this season outside the house. We don’t think that’s it. Allison Grodner went over some of this in our email interview last week, but we’ll add to it by saying that so long as Christmas isn’t missing any important part of the game, she should be allowed to return. She was eligible to be nominated, and she’ll be there presumably to vote on Thursday night. If she had to miss something and received an unfair advantage because of it, we’d have a problem — just as we would in the event that she was told info about the outside world while she was good.
We also probably have a little more personal sympathy for her as someone who once broke a clavicle during an episode of Beauty and the Geek and was separated from the game briefly and allowed to return. It’s obviously not intentional that the injury happened, and if you’re willing to come back and compete, why wouldn’t you want to do that? Don’t adapt the game for her, but let her see how she handles the twists that are thrown her way.
Let’s put it another way — we’ve heard so much whining from other players still around this season, and here’s a woman willing to keep playing basically on one foot. She’s the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail of this game — okay, that analogy is a little extreme, but we wanted to make it anyway.
