Game of Thrones season 7 spoilers: A new side of Euron Greyjoy

Euron Greyjoy

While it’s pretty clear that Cersei Lannister is a Big Bad on Game of Thrones season 7, so is Euron Greyjoy. The character took off from the Iron Islands with a fleet at the end of this past season, and he’ll be back this time with many intentions — marrying Daenerys, conquering cities, and eventually sitting on the Iron Throne. The dude doesn’t waste a lot of time.

When Euron returns at the start of season 7, you’re also going to see a very different side of the character. Per Entertainment Weekly, you’ll see him sporting a different look, and a little bit of a different vibe to go along with that!

“He’s much more just f—ing enjoying himself this season … He’s more charming. He takes himself seriously, but not too seriously.”

Given that Game of Thrones doesn’t want to find itself in a situation where it does the same thing multiple times, don’t expect to see Euron be much like Ramsay Bolton, either — which shouldn’t come as much of a shock, given the fact that Ramsay wasn’t nice to anyone and was often known more for being terrible and sadistic:

“Ramsay was a great character and to me was 100 percent evil. I think Euron is not. I’m more like a hooligan. The guy you met at the Kingsmoot is not the guy you will meet on his ship — he’s different with different people to get what he wants.”

Do we think that anyone is going to be rooting for Euron?

Absolutely not. The guy is a toolbox, and we’d be more than fine to see him carted off to the nearest tool shed with some of the other tools on the show. Yet, you do want your villains on the show to be compelling, and we have a feeling that he is certainly going to be that and then some. He’s a powerful, dangerous dude with a ton of people who are going to fall in love with his charisma. Sometimes, you can get by even if you’re not a great ruler, just because you’ve got enough magnetism to make people believe that you are. This is why Euron was able to win people over at the Kingsmoot and completely ignore the fact that he hasn’t actually been around the Iron Islands in a while.
