Fox eyes potential Empire, Star crossover for fall

Empire

While not confirmed yet, Fox is mulling over the idea of having an Empire Star crossover for the upcoming fall season.

According to TVLine, the crossover, in theory, should be creatively easier to pull off one giant episode, unlike the Bones/Sleepy Hollow complex match up. While Fox declined to comment on the potential match up to the publication, the network is still in talks to merge the worlds of these shows. Both shows are scheduled for Wednesday nights with Empire’s fourth season and Star with its second. The merge would occur on September 27 for a one-night premiere.

So what could the story be?

Well considering Empire Entertainment is a music company, it’s a definite possibility that the ladies of Star could be meeting with Lucious and company to discuss a business deal. Could Empire Entertainment want to get involved in the musical trio’s career? Again, it’s a possibility because at the end of the first season Big Boi did not sign Big Trouble.

If the crossover occurs, it will also be interesting to see how Carlotta will interact with the Empire crew. Carlotta is the surrogate mother for the three girls of Big Trouble and thus will be more protective than a normal manager.

For Empire, how will the family react to Lucious’s amnesia? Fans know that Andre called off the hit on his father, despite the fact it was attempted anyway. How will this affect the company? One thing is for certain; it’s definitely going to cause some tension between father and son.

Then when you add both shows together, the conflicts from both shows will intersect to form one-night of exciting storytelling.

And if that doesn’t make you excited well then there’s the fact that Taraji P. Henson and Queen Latifah could be in the same scene together. These two actresses’ characters are matriarchs with strong opinions and personalities so their characters alone will definitely bring the heat.

Empire follows a fictional hip hop music and entertainment company and the drama among the members of the founders’ family as they fight for control of it. Meanwhile, Star revolves around three talented young singers who navigate the music business on their road to success.

While both shows are about the music business, they each have different and exciting concepts, however, we wouldn’t mind a potential crossover. Fingers crossed this happens!
