Big Brother 19 live feed spoilers: Week 1 Veto Ceremony results

Week 1 Veto Ceremony results

At first, we thought that Big Brother 19 – Week 1 Veto Ceremony results would wait until Monday; production got the jump on us here. These took place late Sunday morning in the house, as the remaining players were at the mercy of Cody to see what he would do with his replacement nominee.

This is what we’ve learned about Cody since the feeds first came up late Thursday: He’s an in-game sociopath. He doesn’t tell anyone everything, he’s fairly emotionless, and he’s willing to do what he thinks is right regardless of the perception of everyone around him. Therefore, signs pointed towards him nominating Paul, the one returning player and the guy he just refused to trust.

Cody has one thing right: Paul is dangerous, and does need to be removed from the game at some point. Here is what Cody has wrong: Timing. Nobody in his alliance wants Paul gone seemingly right now, and he could be a shield to hide behind. Meanwhile, Paul also has a temptation, one that will keep him safe for the first three weeks of the game. There’s no way Cody can predict this completely, but Paul staying = Cody having to nominate a FIFTH person this week (remember that Megan already walked), which leads in turn to a further avalanche of consequences for him. Paul will be gunning for him, people who like Paul will be gunning for him, as will Jillian, potentially Alex, and whoever else is nominated.

So who was actually put on the block? Spoilers ahead…

The results

Christmas is now the nominee! Meanwhile, Paul’s secret about the safety is out. Cody tried to nominate him, that didn’t happen because of his temptation, and he then put up Christmas instead. She’s furious at Cody for doing it, and is blowing up his game all over the place. GOLD. Everyone is now incredibly paranoid, and that should only further help to make the game more exciting from here on out. Paul’s going to scramble now that he realizes that people who he thought were loyal to him are now disloyal, just like Cody now is going to feel like the target from SO many people.

Are there people questioning why Paul kept his temptation a secret? Sure, but they can understand why he did that. Meanwhile, nobody can understand Cody nominating someone from supposedly his own alliance, and if he’s willing to do that now, he’s absolutely willing to do that down the road to other people. The optics here for CODY are bad — they’re a ship sinking into the ocean.

Oh, and Cody is now super-bitter about the twist, which he has a right to be … but he should’ve also realized that nominating Paul was a stupid idea in the first place without consulting anyone in the process.
