Teen Wolf season 6 spoilers: How the show handles less Dylan O’Brien

Dylan O'Brien

At this point, everyone who watches Teen Wolf probably expects that the appearances of Dylan O’Brien are going to be a little more few and far between. The actor’s schedule, which included a The Maze Runner movie project and also a lengthy recovery period from an injury, made it hard for him to bring back Stiles for much of the final season. He’s been seen here and there, and we like to think that will continue; meanwhile, it does seem like the show’s already starting to plan out some of the ways they are planning to move forward without him as a part of the show on-screen.

In speaking on this subject (per TVLine) while at the Saturn Awards recently, Linden Ashby (who plays Stilinsky on the series) said the following about the involvement of his onscreen son Stiles, who is off at a training program presumably for some of the final episodes:

“Well, you know, we call each other every day … And we email and text, so it’s OK.”

So even when you don’t see Stiles, rest assured that this isn’t going to be a Colton Haynes sort of situation where he disappears off the face of the earth and nobody else really ever talks about him. (It certainly helps that some of Stiles’ family and close friends are all still around, and he’s bee ingrained in the series’ identity for such a long time at this point.)

Ashby also goes on to tease the following, just in case you were not interested nor excited enough in some of what is about to transpire down the road — including a heck of a lot of dead bodies:

“It’s a really cool season, and yes, a lot of people actually do die … It’s really about fear and people coming together in different camps, and it’s about intolerance. It’s about a lot of things that are pretty current right now. I think it’s going to be good.”

Odds are that there is a good part of this that is deeply disconcerting for many people, but that shouldn’t be all that big of a shock when you consider for a moment the reputation. This is a show that kills people, and it’s certainly possible that we could lose Stiles before it’s over. Let’s hope not, but anything is possible.

Teen Wolf will resume airing the remainder of its final season presumably later this summer / early fall. For more expectations, be sure to share in the comments below!
