Longmire season 6 notes: Barry Sloane fun; Cassidy Freeman’s farewell

Cassidy Freeman

There are a couple of different things worth noting with Longmire season 6, but first of all, we say goodbye to Cassidy Freeman.

As the actress behind Cady Longmire herself notes in a new post on Instagram (see below), yesterday was her final day of filming for the Netflix series. Cady has had a great, powerful run on the show as she’s looked to establish more and more of a voice separate from her father. She did that more than ever over the course of season 5, but also at somewhat of a cost given that her actions lead to there being somewhat of a divide between herself and her father. This is a difficult amount of tension for the two to resolve, and it’s far from complete now.

Freeman did have one of the most powerful scenes of the fifth season courtesy of the way that this closed, with her become a part of the tribal community out of all of the work that she did in order to protect and help them.

We’ll see where her story goes moving into the new season, and we only now have to wait a few more months! (Odds are, we’re looking at a late September / early October launch.)

As for some other news, it looks as though we’re going to be getting more than just a one-off from Barry Sloane as Zachary, given that he recently posted another video of him around the set. While we know he’s busy with SIX, we’re super-thrilled that he came back in order to reprise his role as this character, give that he was one of the shining lights of the fourth season. He’s also complicated and haunted in a way that nobody else on the show is.
