Shadowhunters season 2: Dominic Sherwood on Sarah Hyland appearance

There’s a little bit something different coming on Shadowhunters later this season, and it’s coming via Sarah Hyland! As reported already, the former Modern Family star will be stopping by in an upcoming role. However, nobody quite knows what that role is. There was some speculation that she would be a slightly-older (in appearance) version of the Seelie Queen, but that didn’t happen. Now, there are other possibilities in the ether, and it’s going to be next to impossible to get someone to say anything about it.

What we can do, at least for now, is give you a sense of what Dominic Sherwood (who is Hyland’s real-life boyfriend) had to say about having her on set. Take a look at his quote below via TV Guide:

“… I can tell you she was a real pleasure and asset to have on set. The cast, the crew, everyone just fell in love with her not only from her performance but also her attitude and her soul and how caring she is. It was a real pleasure to have her on set.

“All I can say is one, she does an amazing job and I’m very excited for everyone to see her, and two, I’m incredibly proud of her.”

Isn’t that sweet? It’d be super-ironic now if she comes out and is playing someone inherently evil who is a massive thorn in the side of everyone, but we’ll have to see what happens when the rest of the season airs for that. It probably has to be a character who works well as a one-off, given that with Hyland’s busy schedule (and the fact that Shadowhunters films in a very different part of North America), it’s probably pretty challenging for her to do more than an episode or two a season, if that.

You’ll get a chance to see / speculate away once more when Shadowhunters returns to Freeform with new episodes a week from Monday. Remember, there is a hiatus ahead thanks to the Fourth of July holiday.
