The Big Bang Theory: Mayim Bialik on vocal rest; won’t impact season 11
In a new post on Twitter, Bialik confirmed that she is now on vocal rest (her rep tells Entertainment Weekly that this is due to a nagging issue with her vocal cords), which is probably a difficult experience for anyone since everyone loves to communicate in some way. The most important thing here is that she seems like she’ll be more than fine on the other side of it.
For those wondering, her vocal condition won’t play any significant part in season 11 filming, either. Production for the CBS sitcom (which is in front of a live audience and a little less intensive for the cast than other primetime series) will not begin until August. Therefore, there is more than a month to go between now and when filming proper is actually going to begin.
When season 10 of the series left off, we certainly say Bialik’s Amy Farrah Fowler in the most unusual position of her life — Sheldon flew across the country in order to propose to her, but only after Dr. Ramona Nowitzki came onto him and kissed him in his office. While he did not reciprocate the affection, he also didn’t stop her from being around when it was clear that the two of them had an inappropriate relationship to everyone else. Maybe this is Sheldon’s childishness and naivete coming back to bite him, but Amy’s still going to need to have some conversations about this with him after the fact.
What we’re trying to say here is pretty simple: Even if Amy says yes, the two are going to have quite a bit to get through before they get married.
New episodes of The Big Bang Theory will start airing on CBS this September; the plan for now is for the show to continue the pattern of airing the first few weeks on Monday nights, and then shift over to Thursdays after the conclusion of NFL football in that timeslot.
Best wishes to Mayim on a speedy recovery!
