Veep season 7 premiere date hopes; what’s left to tell?
If we are to go by past patterns with this show, the fair assumption is that the new season for Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the cast will start airing in the spring of the new year. This is roughly the same time that every other season has aired in the past, so keeping with that tradition makes sense. The only thing that could change this is if there was a sudden shift in production, which we don’t see coming at the moment. Filming will likely begin many months from now, so we also don’t expect much Veep news to be coming out in the near future.
For the writers of Veep, you can claim that there is somewhat of a dilemma for them to figure out and that is where to take these characters moving forward after everything that we’ve seen on the show to date. We’ve already seen a Vice-Presidency, a Presidency, and a period following the Presidency. This show has clearly found a way to bring more to the table than almost any other comedy out there. It’s with this that we do have further confidence in the team to continue to provide interesting stories in the weeks to come. If this was a lesser show, maybe we’d be a little bit more concerned over how it could continue to go forward and be innovative. If it continues at the rate in which the story is going now, this is the sort of show that really could run however long that Louis-Dreyfus and the writers want it to without the story getting stale.
Our hope is that the show does continue down a trajectory that leads to Jonah Ryan becoming President, just because there would be no better satire of the political process than the show’s biggest dullard eventually becoming the most powerful man in the country. It’s hilarious and rather sad, but much is what we see in this show. None of these politicians are altogether likable, but the humor comes in the fact that they continue to have some sort of power over the people.
