Game of Thrones season 7: Why Kit Harington is worried again

Kit

Within the world of Game of Thronesit’s very hard for anyone to ever feel all that safe. Yet, there was apparently a little stretch of time where Kit Harington did feel just that.

So, how in the world did that happen? It came about as a result of what was pretty simple logic — Harington knew that it would be problematic for the show to kill him off last season. In speaking on that further to SFX, the actor explains more of what he means, while also noting that he does feel very much vulnerable now entering the seventh season since there is a new-found sense of danger:

“I felt safe in season 6 because I thought it would be bad storytelling to kill me in the [same] season I’d been resurrected! But as for seasons beyond 6, it’s back to business. He’s in mortal danger like anyone else.”

Jon is probably in more danger that almost everyone just because he’s King of the North now, and with that has an enormous target hanging over him that people will want to go at. The reality here is fairly simple: Not everyone is going to be thrilled with Jon being alive and in power, and Cersei and House Lannister in particular could prove challenge.

Then, there’s also the White Walkers, who probably don’t care as much who they are killing as long as they are killing. They will be coming for him, and more than likely, they’ll mean business. One of Jon’s primary quests, as per the recent trailer released by HBO, is going to be venturing over to other kingdoms and making it clear that unless they team up, they are all going to be in a certain degree of trouble.

Ultimately, there are still a few weeks to go until Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on July 16. It may still be a reasonably long wait, but hopefully this is one that is going to prove to be very much worthwhile. Throughout the season, we’re obviously going to have more coverage on what his endgame could be and who is coming after him.
