Fear the Walking Dead season 3 episode 4 spoilers: Salazar the angel

Salazar

Is Daniel Salazar really much of an angel, or the devil himself? The Fear the Walking Dead season 3 episode 4 clip below offers clues.

If you recall, the end of this past episode features Daniel turning up to the cell of Victor Strand, who finds himself in a pretty awful position when he realizes that his old “friend” Dante is really not much of a friend at all. He’s not someone who offers up free rides to anyone in this world, and he doesn’t see any value or trust in having Victor run around as a free man. Hence, this is where he finds himself, and there’s no immediate hope for an escape.

Then, there’s Daniel. He and Strand have a relationship, and they’re both aware of the other’s intellectual fortitude. This is what makes their dynamic so interesting, and they can likely read each other very well. This is why Daniel may not completely believe Victor when he says that the two of them can get out of this situation and go find Ofelia. She is alive, but it’s not so easy as just traveling close by, getting her, and then all three of them riding off into the sunset together. Salazar also probably knows that busting Strand out is more trouble than it’s worth, and that Dante would find out about it and cause more problems for him from afar. It’s pretty darn easy to come up with ways in which the two could continue to cause some problems for each other; Strand could be a devil just as much as an angel to Strand.

So where do these guys go from here? That’s part of the mystery for this episode, which the other part being getting an opportunity to see how Daniel ended up in this place, and what his relationship is like with Dante now. It’s been confirmed already that these visits are not just some sort of odd fever-dream that Strand is having. He’s really there, but there is a journey that got him to this point. Part of the story will be learning more about that.

As a matter of fact, it wouldn’t be a shock if Sunday’s episode is one where we don’t actually see Madison, Alicia, or anyone else over at Broke Jaw. It could be almost entirely around the dynamic with these men.
