Chicago Fire season 6: What could be ahead for Taylor Kinney’s Severide?

SeverideAt this point, it is fairly early in the Chicago Fire season 6 planning process — but it’s never too early to talk Kelly Severide! Taylor Kinney’s character went through all sorts of trauma on the show last year, especially when it came to the death of his new love Anna. His serious relationships on this show are few and far between, but this one felt like it had the capacity to go the difference.

Obviously, this death could have sent him done a whole where he drank himself into oblivion and made a series of poor choices that put his own life (and the lives of those close to him) at risk. Luckily, he handled the mourning of Anna better than we thought that he would. He forged a bond with newcomer Jason Kannell over their shared grief, and obviously working in a constantly-dangerous environment like a firehouse probably serves as somewhat of a distraction.

While Kelly may be keeping himself from falling off the deep end following his relationship with Anna, don’t translate that to mean that he’s going to be settling down with someone else soon. In a new post on Twitter, show co-creator Derek Haas seems to confirm that for the near future. Maybe that changes down the road in season 6, but that’s not going to be the case in the early going.

We do know that there are still Severide / Stella ‘shippers out there, and maybe there is hope for them down the road. If the two were to ever become anything serious, though, it would have to be the end result of patience and building further the friendship that they’ve forged. They don’t want to rush anything if Severide is still recovering from what happened to Anna, so we’ll see where the future holds.

Technically, we also have to see if Severide survives what happened in the cliffhanger at the end of the season. For the time being, we’re optimistic because it appeared as though the people in the most danger were the likes of Mouch and Casey. We’ll see if either one of them end up making it through this cliffhanger in one piece.

For the time being, tell us what you want to see from Severide on Chicago Fire season 6 in the attached comments!
