Outlander season 3 notes: A final night shoot; an interactive map

final night shoot

At this point, the end of Outlander season 3 filming is near — the fact that the final night shoot is upon us is clear evidence of that.

This news was confirmed on Twitter in a post by executive producer Maril Davis, who shared a rather fun photo as evidence. Night shoots have been a little more frequent as of late, likely because there are many night scenes that need to be filmed for Jamie and Claire during their time in Jamaica. Executive producer Matthew B. Roberts further confirmed that the characters are now there (in the event you didn’t know already) in a post of his own on social media.

The more you think about it, and the more appropriate that it is that Outlander season 3 is based on the novel entitled Voyager by Diana Gabaldon. This season covers more ground in terms of time and place than any book / season that comes before it. We’re seeing everywhere from Scotland to the Caribbean to America during the season, and these different places should also be nice reflections of where Claire is emotionally and how her story is evolving. She’s had so many instances of “starting over,” but the hope now is that she is comfortable and now preparing for a better, more stable future. Given that this is Outlander, though, it is fair to assume that there will still be chaos and hardship. In so many ways, this is a show about perseverance and finding a way to carry on.

We suppose that there is a certain excitement that comes with night shoots and really being in the thick of things; it’s acting in a way that is real, raw, and organic! Yet, there’s probably also a desire to get a little more consistent sleep here and there. Thankfully, hiatus will be here before long…

A new interactive map

Just in case you want to get a further sense of Scotland’s history, we were recently sent over an interactive map (check it out over here) that offers you a sense of the clans featured both in Outlander and beyond. We know that there are plenty of people out there who were inspired by the show to study more Scottish history, so consider this another great resource for that.

Outlander premieres on Starz this September. Feel free to share your thoughts on this story below, and head over here in the event you want some other news related to the show. (Photo: Starz.)
