America’s Got Talent: Big Brother alum Nick Uhas auditions with science

Nick UhasNick Uhas is well known (at least to date) for Big Brother 15, but he’s a hustler who has worked hard to build an audience for him after the fact. Therefore, it’s not too big a shock to see him grace America’s Got Talent tonight.

Uhas appeared on the show trying to impress Simon Cowell and the judges with a presentation that was all about gas … or gas that would impact the judges’ voice. It was a very different side of him than what was seen on Big Brother, but if you’ve watched some of his videos online, this shouldn’t be much of a shock. He’s a pretty charismatic guy, and he was able to carry that in front of the judges.

For a little while, it felt like his act was just watching the judges make silly voices at each other. Yet, he eventually brought Mel B and Howie Mandel on stage together for another part of his presentation. He then showed off a few cool little experiments, ones that allowed him to show off a few different things in a short period of time. Will the science go over the heads of most people watching at home? Hopefully not; if nothing else, this is a worthy introduction to what he does.

His past reality TV history aside, science may be much more of Nick’s calling. There is a market for this sort of entertainment right now, almost as a new Bill Nye that will appeal to younger generations who didn’t grow up with him. His challenge in the later rounds is going to be finding a way to go up and continue to impress in the limited amount of time that he has. This is one of the difficult things about science by and large: It takes time to explain and then demonstrate it. Nick has to figure out a way to do that in the Judge Cuts round next if he wants to get to the live shows.
