Shadowhunters season 2 episode 11 spoilers: Clary and a secret
With this in mind, we do bring you the new sneak peek below that is about one thing: The big secret regarding Jace and Clary finally coming out! It was revealed in the midseason finale that Jace was not Valentine’s son, and the next order of business from there became all about trying to figure out how that secret is going to come out to Clary for the first time. This happens in the midst of a conversation between Valentine, Clary, and Jace in which the former challenges the latter two as soon as he realizes that the truth is not out there already. He’s not in a position anymore to be sympathetic to the plight of Jace or anyone else; suffice it to say, he’s got zero problem turning his life into hell.
By the end of this sneak preview, the biggest thing that is clear that is that Jace is forced to reveal the truth to Clary, and deal with whatever sort of realization that goes along with that. Knowing that the two are not related could cause Clary to think more in terms of her own feelings, and this may not be something that Jace wants to deal with. He may not want to accept the idea of her choosing Simon over her, and with that, he may have been hiding as some sort of crutch to make him feel better about potential rejection.
Now that the secret is out there, the aftereffects are something that he will need to deal with the rest of the season — odds are, it’s not going to be an easy thing for him to handle. To make matters so much worse, there are so many other things that the characters on the show are going to have to deal with in the back half of the season, and a certain someone going by the name of Sebastian comes to mind.
