The Flash season 4 spoilers: Early Clifford DeVoe casting news

As though it is any surprise to anyone out there, Clifford DeVoe is the Big Bad for The Flash season 4 this fall. After all, the character was mentioned many times throughout the third season, though often just by his last name. It’s with that in mind that some people out there thought that the character could presumably end up being a major twist on the character, and possibly even a woman. One of the more fun theories out there was that DeVoe could be Tracy Brand, the brilliant scientist who somehow went down the wrong path.

Yet, that theory is now pretty much debunked. Per a report from TVLine, the CW series is casting a man, presumably in his forties, to play the TV version of the character. He is a brilliant man, someone who eventually develops powers that include both telekinesis as well as mind control. His comic book alter ego also makes perfect sense: The Thinker. He’s the most intellectual villain that Barry Allen has faced over the years, and even though he cannot combat Barry when it comes to his speed, he absolutely can when it comes to his mental capabilities.

The great thing about the show casting this character right now is mostly that DeVoe is likely going to be a part of most of the season, and that producers are less inclined to keep his identity under wraps for most of the season. This is different than with any other Big Bad seen on the show, who were shrouded from both Team Flash and the audience for most of the season.

As for who could play him, there are obviously hundreds of possible names. To us, the one thing that would be interesting is if it is someone who physically does not fit the supervillain mold established on this and other shows within the Arrow universe over time.

The Flash season 4 will premiere most likely in October, and more than likely this character will be cast within the next several months.
