The Bachelorette spoilers: The great ‘who has a girlfriend?’ mystery
Does all of this sound terribly manufactured? Absolutely, but people are going to eat this up regardless because it’s almost perfectly in the vein of what this show often likes to do. The synopsis below gives you a few more details all about the ridiculous chaos to come:
“It starts out a perfect day for 10 men and sports enthusiast Rachel – a basketball dream date with Kareem Abdul Jabbar. The guys are stunned, however, when Jabbar reveals they will be competing in front of a huge crowd, including a brass band and cheerleaders. One bachelor gets cocky and starts showboating for the spectators. However, the fun and games are cut short when a woman approaches Rachel with the information that one of the bachelors is her boyfriend. Rachel’s confrontation with the man and the aftermath of the altercation leaves everyone speechless. It leaves her to wonder if the other men are there to find love or play games.”
Ultimately, the whole “who has a girlfriend” debate exposes a further problem with the show, one in which is exacerbated in the modern era. The majority of the guys, to some degree or another, want fame. Maybe some want love and fame together, but many of them either want followers on Instagram or a platform to become either the Bachelor or a part of the next Bachelor in Paradise season. Some guys are just smarter about hiding it than others, and Rachel has to find the ones who are the most genuine about being there and who understand the fame that comes with it on a realistic level. They’ll be the ones to seek out.
Hopefully, whoever this dude who pulls this stunt is doesn’t get on Bachelor in Paradise. You want a few trainwrecks, but deceptive trainwrecks aren’t as much fun since they’ll more than likely pull this sort of nonsense all over again.
