Absentia: First country, premiere revealed for Stana Katic series
As confirmed in a recent piece from Spanish publication EL PAÍS, Absentia will premiere on AXN Spain this fall. This doesn’t necessarily mean that AXN Spain is the first country to broadcast the show; it just means that they are the first to grant it an official start time. Nonetheless, this should still be viewed as an important piece of news when looking at other premiere dates across the board; fall may be a window for many networks, which makes some sense of international broadcasters feel that it can make a significant imprint at this all-important time of the year.
As for what this means for broadcasters here in the United States, the major networks already all have their lineups set up for the fall. Nonetheless, it’s certainly possible that a cable network could pick up the show and find a premiere date for it at some point between now and September – October. It would need to premiere around this point if the full batch of episodes as to wrap up before the Christmas holiday (a time when most networks do not love to program.
Let’s talk the latest photo – The image above was first revealed yesterday, and in terms of pinpointing what it represents, odds are high that this is the first reunion of Katic’s Emily Byrne with her former husband Nick Durand (Patrick Heusinger). The reason we use the words “former husband” here is because the situation is complicated. In Emily’s mind, it’s possible that upon first meeting that she still thinks the two are married. However, she was presumed dead for so long that Nick re-married and started his life over. (You can read more about his new wife, who is raising his child with Emily, over at the link here.)
Just in looking at this image, you can get a pretty good scope of some of what Emily went through in her exile from the world. She’s clearly gone through hell, but to make matters all the more complicated, she also doesn’t remember said hell. Piecing it together will be one of the central struggles of the series.
Share your perception on this new photo now in the comments! As always, be sure to keep checking back for further Absentia updates. They seem to be coming on an almost-daily basis now.

from what I have heard about most of the shows scheduled for the US networks it should be no problem to get a time slot for what looks like a really good series like Absentia! Most of the rubbish we are being fed in North America will not last long! Looking forward to seeing something of quality! this series looks it would fill the bill!
