Is Chicago Fire new tonight on NBC? The cliffhanger aftermath

Chicago Fire new

Is Chicago Fire new tonight? With this being the final Tuesday night of sweeps, it makes sense to wonder if it could be.

Alas, that is not the case, and instead there will be no new episodes coming on NBC from now until September or October when the show is back. That is an especially long time to wait in agony considering the cliffhanger that the show left you off with, where it is still not entirely clear what is going to happen with the likes of Casey, Severide, Mouch, Herrmann, and more. It was by far one of the biggest cliffhangers over the past seasons.

What more is there to say in the aftermath of that, beyond that the showrunners for this series have some tremendous guts? One of the big takeaways is the simple fact that the show and its stars are not all that inclined to share further details, knowing that this is a great incentive to get everyone to watch the start of next season live.

Is it possible that the truth could come out before the premiere airs? Sure, but in a vacuum it is certainly a whole lot more fun if things stay a little bit more under-wraps given that there are so few good secrets within the TV world right now. The cast members are even prefacing many of their comments with an “if” in terms of whether or not they will be back for more.

The two characters seemingly in the most jeopardy are Mouch and Casey. In the case of the former, you have a guy who was looking at this rescue as his last one; even if he survives, it remains hard to figure the precise role for Christian Stolte on the show coming up. Meanwhile, with Casey he’s the sort of guy who risked his own life to tell Dawson how much he loves her; obviously, it was worth it to him, but this does raise the stakes for someone to find him — and quickly, since you definitely don’t want to see anything else happen to him along the way.
