Arrow season 5 finale spoilers: Stephen Amell teases surprise cameo

Amell

The Arrow season 5 finale is coming on The CW Wednesday night, and there are many returning characters. Captain Boomerang, Slade Wilson, Malcolm Merlyn, Black Siren, and Nyssa al Ghul are going to all be featured in one form or another during the episode. Yet, the big surprise is apparently still to come.

In a new post on Twitter (see below), Stephen Amell confirmed that there is a cameo coming in the episode from someone who has not been teased before now. What makes this interesting is that this is a show that tends to always give away, in one form or another, who is going to be coming up. The CW doesn’t tend to shy away from giving away details.

So who could it be turning up? Given the full-circle nature of the finale, especially in the flashbacks where Oliver Queen departs the island once and for all, there are a few possibilities.

Moira Queen – Amell over the years has shown a fondness for Susanna Thompson and her role on the show; she was a shadow broker on the show, and she was involved in the underbelly in Star City in a way few other people have. Her presence is still sorely missed.

Roy Harper – Hey, it’s been a while since Colton Haynes was around, but it would make sense for help to lend a helping hand over the course of the finale since so many of Oliver’s allies are in grave danger.

Tommy Merlyn – This is probably the longest of longshots, but given that there’s been talk about Tommy in one way or another over the course of the season, it would be fun to see him pop up in the finale. Granted, this may not be all that possible given just how many episodes of Chicago Med Colin Donnell filmed for this past season. (Given that Chicago Med may have a shorter episode order for season 3, it actually feels more likely that Tommy could turn up at some point next season … even if he’s supposedly dead in the present timeline.)

Beyond these three, it’s hard to imagine any other character drawing the same sort of buzz or attention. There’s no reason for Walter Steele or a Ra’s al Ghul flashback, and given the problems with Savitar in Central City, it makes some sense that nobody from The Flash would be coming over.
