Blindspot season 2 finale reaction: Show boss on Jane – Weller cliffhanger

Jane - Weller

The Blindspot season 2 finale certainly ended off with the Jane – Weller relationship in a strange place, right?

After the entire journey to stop Sandstorm, the show took a little bit of time off — and jumped a good bit into the future. Two years later, Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) had gone off and become a hermit living in the mountains. At some point along the line, it also seems as though she and Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) may have gotten married. Their relationship was closer than ever before, but then said relationship came to a close.

So what in the world is going on here? It was a jarring end and a heck of a season 3 tease (imagine if the show was canceled?), and it seems like creating this sort of punchy conclusion was exactly the point.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly on the subject of what the future could hold for Jane, executive producer Martin Gero had the following to say:

“She obviously has gone on the run or left. Weller has obviously been searching for her and didn’t know exactly what had happened. We’re going to get into that right away in the very first episode of season 3, probably the opening moments of season 3, so I don’t want to give too much away, but we’ll get to there.”

In one way or another, this is a show that does love to have its mysteries. In the pilot, much of it was learning about who this person was and why she had Weller’s name tattooed on her. This time around, it’s what happened to cause her to leave. It’s almost the opposite of the story of the pilot.

Unfortunately, the waiting now begins both in terms of getting these answers, and seeing more of what is coming up for the show’s supporting cast at the same time. Filming will kick off this summer, and early indications suggest that the show will premiere this fall in a new timeslot: Friday nights. For some further news about some possible premiere dates for the show, be sure to head over to the link here. The official premiere date should come this summer.
