Absentia photo: The latest Stana Katic mystery all about proof

Stana Katic mystery

What does it mean to have proof without belief? Will anyone trust evidence when it’s coming from someone perceived as out of the loop? These are questions that the latest photo from Absentia raises, and it does so in a rather effective way.

The new show from the show’s Twitter page restores the show back to its behind-the-scenes roots, the same ones that we saw for many photos before two of the first official photos of Stana Katic in action were released by Sony AXN. This one features once more Katic’s Emily Byrne proclaiming that she’s found answers. She’s uncovered proof.

This is only half the battle. Proof of what? Is this proof that she’s uncovered the truth behind what happened to her, who took her, and why? Or, is this something more benign, such as she’s found proof on a different case being investigated by the FBI … or maybe proof that the man she was chasing prior to her disappearing for many years was responsible for everything she said.

If we were to go down the rabbit hole of getting incredibly investigative with the photo itself, one of the major takeaways comes in the form of fashion. Emily is more composed and less disoriented in this photo than the first ones released by Sony, as tough more time has been spent away from the chaos and back into normal life. Following that, she’s still dressed like someone trying to hide, and seems overtly concerned about whatever she is that she is talking about. Maybe she is hiding (while speaking on the phone) from someone / something on the other side of the corner. This may be a situation where she has proof and needs backup in order to full enact whatever plan she is hoping to achieve.

No matter the theory, the photo serves the purpose of continuing to have you discuss a series despite it being many months still removed from the air. Kudos to the publicity team once more for finding new venues and ways to generate discussion in a crowded landscape where such things are far from easy.

Remember, Absentia will make its formal world premiere while at the Monte Carlo International Television Festival next month. You can read more about that by heading over to the link here.

Meanwhile, we welcome more of your thoughts in the comment below on one simple subject: What in the world do you think is going on in this image? (Photo: Sony.)
