American Horror Story season 7: Ryan Murphy shares (super freaky) art

American Horror Story season 7

We first heard earlier this year that American Horror Story season 7 was going to be political in nature, and the latest photo from executive producer Ryan Murphy is further proof of that very thing.

Also, this photo is very likely going to freak you out. This feels almost like the love child of Dumbo and Twisty the Clown from American Horror Story: Freak Show, and it’s pretty terrifying to look at in between the smile and the skull-for-eyes situation that it has going on.

If we were to guess, what Murphy is trying to say here is that the Republican Party is effectively some sort of evil shell, or the decaying remains of their former selves. The elephant is of course the symbol of the party, and it shouldn’t be a coincident that he chose this animal over the Democratic symbol of a donkey.

As for what the new season of the show will be about beyond this, we know that there is certainly a little bit of a further mystery present there. Murphy said already that he was not looking to cast either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, and with that, we wondered if the story is more thematic in nature. Or, maybe Murphy is creating fictionalized versions of these two people and will tell a story loosely based on some events of the election — he could be taking the Law & Order: SVU route in order to ensure that nobody gets sued and everything is reasonably different enough.

American Horror Story season 7 is going to be premiering on later this fall, and for the time being there aren’t too many details known publicly about it. What we do know is that you’re going to be seeing Billie Lourd and Billy Eichner join the franchise; Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, meanwhile, are also both going to be returning in some sort of capacity. As is the pattern, they’ll get new roles that will hopefully be different from the ones that they’ve taken on before.
