Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers chime in on Trumpcare passing the House

Sometimes, you look to late-night comedy to help deal with some of the pain, and we certainly know that there are many people hurting right now in the wake of the American Health Care Act / Trumpcare news from earlier. Also as you would expect, some late-night comedies are here to try to help.

Tonight on The Late Show, Stephen Colbert will have a little bit of fun mocking the act, Republicans for their celebrations, and specifically, some of the metaphors used. In general, you can look to this segment as Kimmel continuing to take no prisoners, even though he had a fairly rocky week thanks in part to some of the criticism surrounding his remarks about Donald Trump earlier in the week.

If you did miss some of that, Colbert did address the controversy earlier in the week, stating that he could’ve used language that was a little less crude when describing Trump and Vladimir Putin. Yet, he said he did not regret making the joke.

Take a look at part of his opening piece below.

Meanwhile, you probably thought that Late Night with Seth Meyers would be offering “A Closer Look” at everything tonight, and you’d be right! These segments are often political in nature, and this one is no exception. It’s probably, along with The Daily Show, one of the better places you’re going to get a comedic look at everything going on while also some actual news about it. One of the things that you do have to remember here, though, as referenced both here and elsewhere, is that the bill just passed the House of Representatives. Really, there are many more hoops that it’s going to need to clear if it actually wants to become a law at the end of the day.

Regardless of what happens with the American Health Care Act at the end of the day, you better believe that there’s going to be a whole lot more said about it in the late-night community over the days ahead. After all, just remember for a moment or two that this weekend’s new episode of Last Week Tonight could very well touch heavily on this, in addition to some other far-reaching headlines from the week.
