Dancing with the Stars 24 review: Rashad Jennings, Simone Biles, & more

24 review

Tonight, Dancing with the Stars 24 is bringing you what is arguably their biggest show of the entire season. Two people are going home!

Later tonight, we’ll offer up a little bit more news when it comes to the results of the evening, given that for the time being we want to put the focus more on the performances themselves. After all, these are what we are going to remember down the line, and we feel like the show’s done enough at this point to get us to know the story of some of the various Stars.

The guest judge tonight fulling in for Julianne Hough is Mandy Moore; personally, we find her inclusion exciting given that we’ve got one of the best choreographers in the business there to actually judge the dancing. Mandy in particular doesn’t get enough press, and is probably confused far too often with the star of NBC’s This Is Us.

Just like every other episode of this show, we’re going to be reviewing the performances from tonight’s episode as they happen!

Bonner Bolton and Sharna Burgess – We know that this Western-themed number (the theme is Movie week) was going to be hokey and right into the cowboy’s wheelhouse. While it was competent, it wasn’t anything special at this age. Score: 29.

Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev – Nancy is someone we knew would be a good dancer, but there’s still something about watching her that is a revelation. Great choreography, but more than that Nancy handled the production and felt completely natural in the process. Score: 36.

Simone Biles and Sasha Farber – On paper, the Charleston appeared to be right up Simone’s alley since it is such a high-energy dance and she could have a lot of fun with it. This was every bit as great as we hoped that it would be coming into the show. Score: 37.

Nick Viall and Peta Murgatroyd – This was probably Nick’s strongest dance technically, since he got into the action-movie character and was every bit the leading many you would want. While there were some bumps in the road here and there, this was still sleek and very entertaining. Score: 34.

Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater – We think this was every bit as good as Heather Morris’ perfect score last week. Yet, this was somehow still not enough to get the two parties a perfect score. We don’t think they are complaining too much, but still. Score: 37.

David Ross and Lindsay Arnold – This will probably be remembered more for Lindsay farting in David’s face more so than the actual sci-fi salsa, but it was entertaining! David isn’t a great dancer but he’s been a lot fun this season. Score: 32.

Normani Kordei and Val Chmerkovskiy – This was really great, REALLY great. Apparently, Normani dances hurt better than the majority of the people out there dance not hurt. The best dance of the night by far, both in terms of choreography and technical movement. Score: 40, and immunity for the dance-off.

Dance-off – The predictable results are in. Simone defeated Nancy, and Rashad defeated David. There was a slight upset in Bonner over Nick.
