The Flash season 3 episode 19 sneak peek: ‘The Once and Future Flash’

Once and Future Flash

The wait for “The Once and Future Flash” is finally over! Tonight, The Flash returns with a new episode, and it’s a big one. Over the course of the hour, we’re going to see Barry Allen transport himself to the future with one primary purpose in mind — trying to find a way to stop Savitar once and for all. He wants to do what he can to find his weakness and maybe even his identity … but it’s not going to be easy.

Executive producer Aaron Helbing does a good job in the sneak peek below laying out the situation that we’re going to be running into over the course of Tuesday’s episode, including just how much trouble Barry finds himself in by running forward to years after Iris West’s apparent death. He has to contend with new mysteries, but then also Killer Frost at the height of her power and also Mirror Master and Top, who’ve had many more years to hone some of their own abilities. It’s a difficult situation for him to deal with, but one that he will eventually figure out.

While we’re not altogether sure just how much of these two characters we’re going to have a chance to see in the episode, we do hope that the writers keep finding uses for Grey Damon and Ashley Rickards here and there. They do provide a little bit of added mythology to the world, and they are very important components to the Rogues in the comics. With Captain Cold now seemingly out of commission, we need more of a Rogues representation on the show moving forward.

It’s possible that we exit the episode tonight without an understanding as to who Savitar is, but we do think that we need a few clues here and there. In this final stretch of the season we’re hoping that The Flash raises the stakes and really finds itself. As excellent as Arrow season 5 has been as of late, so far The Flash hasn’t been able to find a way to live up to that hype.
