Nashville season 5: Should Kacey Musgraves appear?
Specifically, let’s talk for a moment about none other than the possibility of getting country superstar Kacey Musgraves onto the show. In a post on Twitter a couple of days ago, she made it clear that she was just getting into the show. She called it a “sick addiction” in her tweet, which goes along with how many people feel about it in the best possible way. (Granted, this is probably also a reason why there were so many tears when you-know-who was killed off.)
In response to Musgraves’ own message, show creator Callie Khouri sent her over a message giving her a pretty open invitation to appear. Could it happen? It seems like a really natural fit, given that she’s got knowledge of the industry and it certainly never hurts a country start to have a great relationship with a network that fully embraces the genre. We know that she could easily play some version of herself, but it’d almost be even more fun to see her play a heightened version of some other country-music personality.
Ultimately, this would probably be more of a season 6 thing than season 5 based on the timing of it all, but it’s still something fun to think about. For the time being, we’re mostly just grateful for the fact that we are getting a season 6, given that this was something that was not necessarily a sure thing back when the show first made the move over to CMT. It was a big risk for both the network and streaming service Hulu, but one that thankfully did pay off. Now, we just have to wait and see what happens when the show returns, and with some new actors in tow in the form of Rachel Bilson and Kaitlin Doubleday.
