Shadowhunters season 3 renewal official, Katherine McNamara, cast confirm
This morning, the cast of the series assembled at The Institute (really, the show’s set in Toronto) to officially confirm that they are going to be coming back for more episodes. Filming for season 3 will be kicking off later this year, and odds are, you’ll get a chance to see Katherine McNamara and the rest of the cast on Freeform once more early next year.
You can watch not only the renewal announcement for the show, but also see the cast answer a wide array of other questions to go along with it. The cast obviously has a lot to be excited about here, and it’s not too much of a surprise that the series will be coming back for another batch of episodes.
In terms of overall ratings, it’s true that this is not the biggest show on cable. However, it does have a large DVR audience, it’s insanely popular on social media, and its fans are prevalent all over the world. It has all the makings of a global hit for many years to come, and we don’t foresee its popularity online waning anytime soon.
New episodes of Shadowhunters will kick off in early June, and thanks to the arrival of a certain new character (to the series anyway), there’s a lot to look forward to there. For those of you who do have a tendency to watch ratings like a hawk, you should feel good about the show’s potential then given that there tends to be a much larger pool of potential viewers in the summer than the winter. Younger viewers are out of school or college, and there’s not anywhere near as much competition. Ultimately, we just want to see momentum for a possible season 4 renewal down the road!
