Game of Thrones season 7 photos: Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, more

Game of Thrones season 7 photosToday, HBO unleashed a wide array of new Game of Thrones season 7 photos on the world, and there’s reason for excitement!

The first takeaway that we have from some of these photos is that you’re going to be seeing many familiar faces in Westeros in new positions. For example, you’ve got The Hound (Rory McCann) in the snow, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) closer to the Iron Throne than ever before, and Cersei (Lena Headey) now on the throne flanked by her brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Meanwhile, the Starks are all reconvening, and that includes Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) being drug along by one of the few people he has left in Meera (Ellie Kendrick).

One of the most interesting photos in here to us is the one featuring Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) standing alongside Sansa (Sophie Turner), mostly because he is the guy we always tend to forget about. That’s probably also the way that he wants it. He loves to operate and do his business largely in shadow, and this benefits him in the long run so much more than anything else. He can come in, be sneaky, do whatever he wants to, and watch other people die in front of him. We do think he’s one of the top candidates to make it out of the series alive and in power, even if he’s not the person everyone is rooting for.

One thing that is missing from many of these images is the presence of the White Walkers, clearly the big villains of the story at this point more so than anyone from an individual house. If they are not dealt with, they will eventually take over all of Westeros and murder anyone in their path. Our prevailing sentiment is that season 7 will unify much of humanity against the White Walkers, and then season 8 will feature the final battle to restore peace to the Seven Kingdoms. We shall wee if that ultimately ends up being the case.
