Arrow season 5 trailer features Oliver / Felicity, Slade Wilson’s return

We know that The CW made you wait for the new Arrow season 5 trailer (it was originally supposed to launch yesterday afternoon), but based on what we’re getting a chance to see right now, it feels like it’s absolutely worth it.

There is obviously a lot that is going on here, so let’s break down the four things that stand out to us personally the most.

1. Oliver versus Prometheus – Obviously, this makes the most sense as the main event, given that these two characters have been battling more most of the season. Adrian Chase will continue his plan to methodically take everything away from him. As for whether or not this said plan works, that remains to be seen.

2. Are Oliver, Felicity back on? – It’s a little early to say, but this trailer does give you a good indication that there could be some more romance coming up between the characters after the failed engagement last season. Specifically, look to the 20th episode airing later this season entitled “Underneath” for possibilities.

3. Nyssa is back – Nyssa’s sister Talia al Ghul is one of the parties responsible for this whole feud, at least in the sense that she helped to train both Oliver and Adrian at various points. Apparently, the two women have some unfinished business that needs to be dealt with.

4. Slade Wilson! – The final seconds of the trailer are honestly the biggest surprise to us, given that at one point yesterday, we thought there was a 0% chance that the producers were going to have the time to include any scenes featuring Manu Bennett’s character. (He only recently filmed his scenes.) Granted, the Slade cameo is super-brief and is mostly just his voice, but it’s still better to have a little Slade than no Slade at all.

New episodes of Arrow will begin officially on Wednesday, so the time of waiting is almost at an end! Get ready for what looks to be an exciting end to what is so far one of the best seasons of the show to date.
