Dancing with the Stars review: Simone Biles, Heather Morris go Disney

Simone

Tonight, Disney Week is arriving on Dancing with the Stars; will Simone Biles, Heather Morris, and Rashad Jennings stay favorites? That’s something that we are going to chronicle throughout the night. Be sure to refresh the page often for further updates, as we’re going to have them over the course of the night.

At the end of the night, we are of course going to have our take on whoever is going to be eliminated. One way or another, we imagine that this is going to be emotional.

Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater – The Beauty and the Beast inspired performance was great, but it was inevitable that we were going to see Rashad start to slide down the leaderboard after the magic last week. It just made sense for this time be that moment. Get it out of the way, and then move forward from here. Score: 32.

Nick Viall and Peta Murgatroyd – By far, Nick’s best dance … and it wasn’t because he shaved for the first time in a year and a half. This was about Pinocchio, and he brought all of the necessary energy and childhood charm to it from start to finish. Grade: 34.

Erika Jayne and Gleb Savchenko – This was the complete opposite of everything that we’ve seen from Erika before this. It was soft, it was lyrical, and she benefited from being able to do a waltz at this time. We do think she’s in danger of being eliminated now. Score: 32.

Heather Morris and Alan Bersten – Maks will be back next week! Oddly, this routine lacked the magic despite it being Disney week. There was a lot of great technique here, but there was something off about the style. Score: 34.

Bonner Bolton and Sharna Burgess – This had the character and the entertainment, and a little of the technique. It was probably a tad underscored given that we thought it was every bit as good as what Erika did, especially when it comes to capturing the style. Score: 30.

Normani Kordei and Val Chmerkovskiy – Not only was this one part dance, but it was also full-on with the fight choreography! One of the most entertaining dances we’ve seen in a long time, and Normani got completely in character. It didn’t have the emotion of Rashad’s last week, but we aren’t angry at the score. Score: 39.

David Ross and Lindsay Arnold – We do feel like this was David’s worst outing, but it didn’t help that he had a song from Cars 3 that nobody had an attachment to. Also, it was a jive, and that doesn’t suit him or his style all that well. This was just … clunky. Score: 29.

Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev – We love Enchanted. Therefore, we found this dance all sorts of fun, and Nancy really felt like the natural leading lady of the dance. This was tough choreography, but she really did nail it. Score: 36.

Simone Biles and Sasha Farber – We figured that with them performing an iconic song from Moana, there was a good chance that we would see them deliver a great routine — and they did! It was powerful, poetic, and everything in between. Score: 38.
