Arrow season 5 spoilers: Katrina Law returning for multiple episodes
Why is that? Well, let’s just say that she’ll be staying for more than just a single episode.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Law will be returning as Nyssa al Ghul for multiple episodes, including the upcoming finale that will also feature an appearance from Manu Bennett as Slade Wilson. Specifically, it sounds like one of the big benefits to bringing Katrina back at this point is for her to battle her sister Talia, who turned out to be a traitor to Oliver Queen and an ally to Prometheus. Adrian Chase’s trained with her in some capacity, which is why he knows some of the combat moves that he does.
Nyssa’s own history with Oliver is somewhat cagey, given everything from the forced marriage to what happened to her father Ra’s. However, she is a little more understanding of the decisions that he’s been up against within the run of the show. She eradicated the Lazarus Pit, and her romantic relationship with Sara Lance helped her to forge a close bond with her sister Laurel back when she was alive. We still wish that there was more time for Law to appear on Legends of Tomorrow given that this relationship could use a little bit more fleshing-out. In general, we also wish that Caity Lotz had more time to appear on Arrow here and there.
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed on Monday that the season 5 finale is entitled “Liam Yu,” a sign that the majority of the action both past and present will be taking place on the famed island. This helps to explain more of why Bennett is coming back, and why we could be seeing an ending to this season that is different than a villain simply trying to destroy Star City once again. Prometheus’ endgame is about finding a way to strip Oliver Queen of who he is, and one of the biggest ways to do that is to clearly take away something from him in terms of his identity. The island is one of the big reasons he is the way that he is.
Supposedly, there are even more finale guests coming, so this will probably not be the last report that we have on upcoming guest performers. Stay tuned…
