Call the Midwife season 6 episode 2 (PBS): What’s next for Shelagh, Patsy

At the end of tonight’s episode, you saw some big news comes Shelagh’s way! We don’t want to get too spoilery for people who are stumbling across this article without watching the premiere, but let’s just say that her personal development is one that will not be going away anytime soon. She is going to have that as both a challenge and an encouraging factor for a long time to come. This is a courageous episode of the show, but also a devastating one after you see some of the people that Shelagh is fighting for and their present situation.
Meanwhile, tonight’s episode also delivered some big news for the Patsy Mount character. Be prepared over season 6 episode 2 to learn what decision that she’s going to make as a result of this. One way or another, this choice is going to shape her future both in terms of Nonnatus House and also her personal life. There are certain things that you do that remain touchstones for much of your life, and this is very much one of them.
As for Sister Ursula, she’ll continue to be as she’s been so far in the series: Abrasive. Things will come to a head with her eventually, so you should brace yourself for some of that. It’s a show where change happens one way or another, so don’t expect matters with her to stay the way that they are forever. Something will give, and the big question is how.
